Large Skipper Butterfly

Large Skipper (Ochlodes venata)
This is close-up shot of one of the largest of Britain's “golden” skippers, but it is by no means large! This butterfly is tiny, with a wingspan of less than 3cm. This species is found in sheltered areas of grassland, where grasses grow tall. Typical sites include meadows, hedgerows, roadside verges, and woodland clearings.
